A copy (1960) on Ebay

A large painting done by the noted German artist Josef Eglseder (Eglaeder ?, 1960) after the contraversial painting The Island of the Dead by the famous painter Arnold Bocklin. It measures 3'4" x 21" and the frame is 3'9.5" x 26".

Architecture: San Francisco "Palace of fine arts" inspired by Toteninsel

I live in San Francisco and actually got to know Boecklin's masterpiece through the history of the "Palace of Fine Arts", which was inspired by it.

M.Scholz um 1900/10.Die Toteninsel nach Arnold Böcklin,alte Variante des berühmten Gemäldes.Öl/Lw.,Außenmaße 91,5 cm x 61 cm.Ca. 6 cm breiter Jugendstil-Stuckrahmen.Dieser hat leider einige Abplatzer und müßte restauriert werden.Auch das Bild hat mehrere helle Pünktchen und einen Strich und ist etwas gewellt.Signiert M.Scholz.
