Peter-Andreas LINHART AND BOCKLIN'S ISLE OF THE DEAD
Lives and works near Vienna, Austria
"Since the first time I saw a copy in an old livingroom I am fond of the motiv "Die Toteninsel"." This summer I did a Pop-Art/Comix version
of the Berlin type in acryl colours and paint marker, the size is 70 x 50 cm.
To raise the escentiell part of the picture, I reduced the background in hygenic
colours. For the Island I took only two shades of each colour. As an ironic
element I added a "Welcome" sign to mark our "Leisure-time Society" and made
the boat a bit like a Venzian gondola and ferryman, because I like morbid character
of Venezia. At least I sorounded everything with a black paintmarker in the
same thickness, except the gondola. I signed it with BึCKLINHART." (2002)
